NSF Milestone scholarships are available for 2026-2027!
The NSF-funded MILESTONE (MS Incentive to Land Employment in STEM and Obtain Needed Experience) at UC Irvine’s Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences is designed to support students within three MS programs (MS Biotechnology, MS Biotechnology Management, and BSMS) to overcome financial barriers and excel in their graduate education. This scholarship recognizes high-performing, motivated students who demonstrate significant financial need and are driven to become future leaders within industries of biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and other STEM fields.
As MILESTONE Scholars, students gain the freedom to fully engage in their graduate studies and pursue meaningful research or industry experience, positioning them for competitive, high-paying STEM careers. By offsetting the cost of tuition, housing, textbooks, and other essential expenses, the MILESTONE Scholarship enables students to focus on their academic growth and professional development. By reducing the financial obstacles that often limit access to graduate education, the program empowers students to confidently pursue their ambitions and focus on their long-term career goals.
Eligibility: Must be a domestic student enrolled in UCI’s MS in Biotechnology, MS in Biotechnology Management, or BS/MS (4+1) in Biology. Must complete a FAFSA to determine eligibility.
